J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5, Marvel comics writer, Writer for Ninja Assassin), has said that he had once finished a script for a Silver Surfer Movie.  The movie would have taken place where Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer had left off.  However, with the non-success of FF2:ROTSS, the script was put aside.  JMS has gone on to say that Fox had concurrently been working on another script, which is at this time ready to start going somewhere.  There is no word on if it will be a reboot or the intended prequel/sequel to FF2.  Marvel and Fox have been toying with the idea of doing a “Dark” reboot of the Fantastic Four Franchise, a frivolous and futile attempt at a failing feature of forthcoming films.  Vin Diesel had said that he would be interested in playing Doctor Doom in said reboot, but was also rumored to have been attached to play the Surfer himself.

Director Spike Lee had sit down with IGN.com to talk about some upcoming project rumors and what the status of those films were.

Inside Man 2 – Universal has the script and the Budget.  They are waiting to see if they want to make it.  Owen, Foster, and Washington have all agreed to return.

Save us Joe Louis (biopic) – No Financing, but script is ready to go

James Brown Biopic – Has financing, but no studio as of yet.

Michael Jordan Documentary – Was rumored a while ago, but unfortunately has no steam behind it.  Lee said he would be interesting in resurrecting this project.

There were also Rumors of Lee directing  Marvels Black Panther movie – but it seems to have dropped.

Tidbits and Updates

JJ Abrams has signed aboard as co-producer for an upcoming Samurai Jack movie  – no word on live action, mocap, or animated.

Adrien Brody has confirmed that he is playing a “Grizzled Mercinary” in Predators – the upcoming Predator franchise reboot.  Arnold is rumored for a cameo.

TJ Miller (Hud from Cloverfield) has been cast as Ranger Smith in the Yogi Bear movie.

Natalie Portman has let it slip that Kat Dennings will be in Thor playing a character called Darcy who is a friend of Portman’s Jane Foster character.

Rumors in 2007 about Matt Damon playing James T Kirk in Star Trek have come to light with JJ Abrams talking about them.  Abrams says that Damon was never considered for James T, but rather for George Kirk.

Hurt Locker star – Jeremy Renner had met with Marvel to talk about Captain America.  While there he was told that he would not be considered for Captain America, but Zak Penn said that he could make an “interesting” Hawkeye.

Wolfman gets a Feb 12 2010 release date

Scream 4 is a go with both Arquettes returning, as well as Neve Campbell.  No word on director, but Campbell has been hinting that Wes Craven will return.

JCVD Director Mabrouk el Mehri will direct “The Inisders” starring Jessica Alba.  Basically it’s a James Bond style movie with Alba playing the sexy Columbian Spy lead role.  Robert Rodrigues is considering producing.
